Dunfermline Montrose employee raises £3,000 for charity after Harley tour
Aileen Mottram, Investment Adviser with Dunfermline Building Society's Montrose branch, along with her husband Tim, handed over three cheques to charities yesterday (20th September), after raising nearly £3000 in total this year while out on their Harley Davidson motorbike.
The biker couple, who are part of the Harley Davidson Dunedin Chapter in Edinburgh, handed over £1,500 to Macmillan Cancer Support, the Dunfermline's official charity partner, £300 to the RNLI Lifeboat at Anstruther and £300 to Scottish War Blinded, Dunedin Chapter's 2009 elected charity.
Aileen and Tim have also raised a further £900 for other charities within the past year. These include the skin charity DeBRA and The Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Putting on performances with puppets like Elvis Presley and Pinocchio, the pair have pulled in the crowds over the spring and summer months at various events such as Leuchars Airshow, Arbroath Seafest, Anstruther RNLI Gala Day and the "Thunder in the Glens" Harley Davidson Rally at Aviemore.
Commenting on the work they've done, Aileen said:
"We were delighted to hand over these cheques to such worthwhile causes. We've had so much fun raising the money, along with our biker friends, that it’s nice to finally hand over the money for it to begin making a difference.
"My husband Tim started doing the puppets when he bought a Skeleton puppet to match the skeletons on his bike. We've been doing the puppet shows wherever we go on the bike ever since.
"Elvis seems to be our most popular puppet with the public when we play 'Hound Dog' and 'Jailhouse Rock'.
"Charity fund-raising is a big part of what we do on the bikes and we have made lots of friends along the way. We would like to say a huge thank-you to all of the public who have given us donations over the year. We have been overwhelmed at their generosity"
