Dunfermline Building Society award helps Caledonian graduate go out on a high
Caledonian student, Craig Brown, has finished his University career on a high, after he scooped the award for best performer in the Financial Services Mortgage Lending and Theory Practice module, after his Graduation Ceremony yesterday (8th July).
The long-running prestigious award, sponsored by Dunfermline Building Society, now part of the Nationwide Group, was presented to Craig by the Society’s Hope Street Customer Manager, Mark Mackay, who accepted the same award 11 years ago.
Craig graduated with a BA in Financial Services and picked up a cash prize as part of his award.
Mark Mackay, Customer Manager at Hope Street, said: "I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1998 and won the same award for a project on Mutuality which was very fitting, especially as the award is sponsored by Dunfermline Building Society.
"Back then, the prize was work experience and I got four weeks with the Society. I then accepted a management trainee scheme and have been with them ever since.
"Winning the award is a great accolade and fantastic to put on a CV."
Patrick Ring, programme leader of BA Financial Services said: "The award has been presented to many students over the years and it’s fantastic the category is still running.
"We're very grateful to Dunfermline Building Society for helping us recognise great talent and Craig should be very proud of himself. We wish him every success in pursuing his career in the financial services. Maybe one day he’ll be back to present the award like Mark has done."
