Dunfermline Employees Strictly Fun Dance for Charity
On Thursday 24th September, employees from Caledonia House in Dunfermline will dance the night away in their own version of the BBC hit reality show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, aptly named Strictly Fun Dancing.
Under the watchful eye of dance choreograpgher Lynne Donaldosn, five couples will fight it out for the top spot as they dance the disco, waltz, salsa, American smooth and jive, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in the hope of raising £2,000.
Dancing in front of a celebrity packed panel, the pressure will be on for the couples, but Stirling-born rugby star and contestant in the fifth series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing Kenny Logan is lending his support to the event.
He said:
"A 'Strictly' style competition is a really fun way to raise money for charity. Dancing is a great hobby to have, although I can certify that it’s not as easy as it looks! I wish the teams every success and I hope they raise lots of money for Macmillan Cancer Support."
Heading up the judging panel will be, World Professional Snooker Referee Michaela Tabb, Managing Editor of the Dunfermline Press Simon Harris, Professor Bill McIntosh Principle of Carnegie College and Interim MD of the Dunfermline, Rudolf Heaf. Hosts for the evening are Dunfermline Athletic Football Club’s Director of Football, Jim Leishman MBE (Brucie) and our glamorous Tess Daley for the night is well-known local singer Gill Knight.
Those taking part in the charity competition have been taking dance lessons in the run up to the competition to perfect their steps and turns.
Rudolf Heaf, Interim MD of the Dunfermline, said:
“The night looks set to be an action packed night full of fun and laughter, and the best part about it is that the employees are doing it for our selected charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
“We are hoping to raise around £2,000, so we would encourage people to book tickets early as it promises to be a very special event.”
The action-packed night will take place at the Carnegie Conference Centre on Thursday 24th September at 7pm. Tickets are £8 and are available in a number of Dunfermline branches (Pitreavie, Rosyth, Dalgety Bay and Cowdenbeath), or can be ordered by calling: 01383 627724.
